An Independent Approach to Communicating With Our Clients

In the video below, the second of two interviews with S&P Dow Jones Indices, a division of S&P Global, Steven Higgins and Allie Schmidt discuss their independent approach to creating and managing expectations with their clients.  Schmidt explains, “With emotions remaining the single biggest threat to investor success, it is imperative that investors have a clear understanding of what should be expected over time.”  Allie and Steve stress that a prepared and knowledgable client will be better prepared for normal market volatility.  From the beginning of the relationship, Allie and Steven focus on education and preparedness.  Then, as markets enter periods of volatility, clients are kept informed of market activities using the same terminology and concepts found in the client’s Personal Investment Policy and throughout the planning and investment process.

“There are many eager voices trying to influence investors today.”, says Higgins, “it is our job to make sure that as the most influential advisor to our clients that we project a confident, consistent, and clear message before and during market volatility.”
