Steven Higgins

With over 20 years of experience advising clients in the areas of financial planning, investments, tax planning, and risk management Steven brings a broad perspective approach to the process of creating and implementing strategies for clients. Steven believes that communication is the most important element in a successful financial planning relationship and in that spirit works to innovate and evolve ways to improve the client-advisor communication process. Steven is proud of the recognition Higgins & Schmidt has received for the forward and progressive ways they’ve invested in the relationships with their clients.

Steven co-founded Higgins & Schmidt Wealth Strategies with Allison Schmidt in 2010. Previously, Steven worked as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments. Steven began his career in financial planning with Country Insurance in 2002.

Steven is a husband and father of three teenage daughters. Steven lives in his original hometown of Broomfield, Colorado and takes pride in his community. Steven has a passion for coaching young people in sports and for giving back to the community. Steven currently serves as the Board Chair of the 17th Judicial District VALE Board (Victim Advocacy & Law Enforcement), Steven is a member and past president of the Broomfield, Rotary Club.

Steven is an avid fan of all sports but is most passionate about cheering for and supporting his daughters as they all are accomplished track & field athletes and swimmers. So, when Steven isn’t at the office, track or pool, you’ll probably find him at the gym, running, riding one of his many bikes, snowboarding, playing his guitar, reading books, or enjoying a bourbon or glass of wine with his two golden retrievers at his feet.
